Robyn Williams says "the news is outstanding". But in relative terms, it is no more outstanding now than it was in 2004 and 2005 when he and ALL the major press outlets refused even to give the concept any mention. We were dismissed as nutters and they would not descend to associate with us - even to criticize the idea of peak oil.

The news was outstanding then. This report just puts a few more numbers and dates to the story we have all known.

Note there was nothing here about the role of oil in making possible human population growth from about 2 billion to 7 billion and what happens when the oil that supports 5 billion humans is gradually withdrawn. There are many more implications which Williams is not game to mention; we can all easily list 20 or more that are, each of them, "outstanding".

We have been let down by the press and academia - as we were with the warnings about the GFC and still are about a number of other issues including human population numbers, human health/illness etc. Thank goodness Wikileaks is revealing just how complicit the mainstream press are in WITHHOLDING news, rather than PUBLISHING it.
