Of interest from about a fortnight back:

The Age (and a bunch of other media outlets) have listed some reports about a recent expansion of Australia's borders:

'energy security' gets a mention, as well as the 'imperative to find new deposits to secure a fuel supply for the nation.'

Other points:
Exploration permits are planned for issue around 2009-10, and according to the age, 'The Government's plan to fast-track the release of exploration permits covering the Lord Howe Rise is part of the nation's energy security plans'.
