Hi all

You probably wondered where I'd got to. I've been in Melbourne and  
off the net for a few weeks. Energy has certainly been in the news in  
the context of climate change but peak oil doesn't seem to get a  
mention.

I've notices over the last few months a number of items in the  
motoring pages commenting on a shift to diesel cars and an occasional  
item on electric vehicles caused by increased petrol prices. Today  
there is -

"Last of the Smart breed" by Ian Crawford p.20

Mitsubishi will unveil the latest version of it's Smart family, the  
Fortwo in March. There is an 800cc diesel version which gets 3l/100km  
compared with 5 for the petrol version. Prices for the Australian  
version are not finalised.

Comment: I suspect a toy for the rich. But it's something and there  
could be a spin off.
