Hi all,

Beyond Zero Emissions has release its first model for a fast transition Near
Zero Emission plan for Victoria's Stationary Energy.

We are doing transport next, but it will be essentially focused on a lot of
electrified rail, bike walking up grades, EV's and plug in Hybrids with
added renewable generation capacity to meet the demand.

*Near Zero Emission Strategy - Victoria's Stationary Energy Sector *

*Concept*
Replace Victoria's existing coal fired power generation assets with wind
generation, utilisation of existing peak power, and the use of a price
signal to reduce power demand. This will shut down the uneconomic Victorian
aluminium industry to create a near zero emission stationary energy sector.

Stationary Energy accounts for more than half of Victoria's greenhouse gas
emissions, and more than 12 percent of Australia's emissions.

*Overview*
*Base Load Generation*
Wind 12,000 MW utilising 4,000 3 MW Turbines producing 35,000 GWh annually
and securely delivering 2,400 MW 24hrs 365 days a year.

*Peaking Power*
Utilise existing peaking generation capacity of 7,300 MW to meet the
potential 6900 MW peak demand.

*Reducing Demand*
Utilise price signals to close down the aluminium industry.

*Grid*
Upgrade existing grid switching, extend 220 kv and 500 kv distribution to
some locations.

*Additional Factors*
Energy efficiency, solar thermal, demand management, demand reduction - all
to be implemented alongside this plan.

*Cost*
$9.6 billion Wind
$1-2 billion Grid Upgrade
