Barr says we need a different focus than motor sports in comments to  
the business community.

Comment: He makes no mention of oil prices in his comments just that  
the V8 event had been a "unmitigated disaster". He was defending the  
budget cuts to tourism but there was no mention of how steadily  
increasing oil prices might impact on the tourism inductry in Canberra.

Comment: The will be continual debate on this until the Federal Labor  
conference. The focus will be on trade and global warming but there  
is scope to swing it to peak oil somewhat.

"Swiss connection proving scientific brain drain not all one-way  
traffic" By Simon Gross p.11

A company in Queanbeyan is using Swiss developed technology which  
captures solar energy via a dye based process. They have received  
government funding.

Comment: This at the sliver technology at ANU are good examples of  
sustainable energy projects which should (and are) being supported.
