Two items today which might deserve some comment.

"Australia's gone 'adrift' on climate change" p.3

prepared of all the world's developed countries to tackle the issue
of climate change. It identifies a number of trends fo improvement

Comment: They may well be wrong. While increased oil prices are
dropping demand as oil peaks a shift to oil from coal technology of
gas conversion will increase CO2 emissions.

"Australia too small for nukes: economist" by Rosslyn Beeby p.7
Our market may be too small to justify a nuclear power industry
unless there is a carbon tax. The nuclear power enquiry might be a
shortcut to do this. Discussion of coal versus nuclear.

Comment: Whether we have coal or nuclear we will need fuel for mining
equipment, transport and processing. With peak oil coming the
increased price of oil will transfer into the production of electricity.
