Nicole Foss - Monday 13 February, 7:00 - 9:00pm

Monday 13 February, 7:00 - 9:00pm - Nicole Foss: Preparing the nation, your community and family for peak oil and deflation in the coming economic environment.

CSIRO Discovery Centre, Clunies Ross Street, Acton (turn up the hill at the roundabout in Clunies Ross Street)

A decades-long credit expansion based on a credit bubble grounded in “Ponzi dynamics,” is ending. As a consequence, we are in the grip of a serious deflationary financial crisis. The challenges of peak oil among other energy shortages occurring at the same time as climate change, population growth, food insecurity and political unrest are forming a “perfect storm” and lead many to think that the world they are familiar with is on the verge of disappearing, with no proposals that will help to develop strategies to secure their future. Has our globalized industrial system nearly destroyed the individual capacity for self-reliance?

Join us for a graphic presentation and a question and answer session with Canadian Nicole Foss (who writes as “Stoneleigh” at TheAutomaticEarth.org). Nicole will discuss what is coming, why it is coming, what you can do about it, and how urgent it is that you do it now. She will deliver a psychological inoculation to pull people away from incomprehension and despair and prepare them to build something from the bottom up.

About Nicole Foss: Her academic qualifications include a Canadian BSc in biology (focusing on neuroscience and psychology), a post-graduate diploma in air and water pollution control and a law degree from the University of Warwick in the UK. She has also received two major university prizes. While living in the UK Nicole was a Research Fellow at the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies, where she specialized in nuclear safety especially the Chernobyl incident.

Note the starting time is half an hour earlier than our usual start for public meetings. Nicole has asked for the extra half hour to do justice to the questions she expects.

Nicole Foss will also be talking at an interactive event in Bungendore with local community activists on Sunday 12 February on “Preparing your family and community for peak oil” from 3:30 - 9:00pm, at Mulloon Creek Natural Farms.
