[Peakoil] Watch those CSG contracts

This year's World Energy Outlook from the IEA talks about "golden prospects for natural gas" (p4, executive summary). Last year the IEA finally told us that peak oil occurred in 2006. So natural gas (and in the case of CSG I'd be tempted to include unnatural gas) is making up the shortfall. No wonder there's a kind of gold rush under way in this country by CSG companies. Agriculture? Who needs agriculture?

Landowners here better watch the terms of any agreements they sign, if in fact they sign any; the states here seem to have shoved the ordinary citizens to one side. Whatever. Here's jolly news from the NY Times about the kinds of raw deals that US land owners have been getting:

The gist is that CSG companies can inflict whatever damage they feel like and get away with it.

Cheers,
Walter
