VOLUNTARY GAS RESTRICTIONS HAVE BEEN REQUESTED IN THE ACT

ActewAGL has been advised that the supply of gas in the ACT has been
impacted by increased use due to the cold weather snap across southern
Australia.

ActewAGL Chief Executive Officer John Mackay is appealing to everyone to
reduce their gas consumption. Following are some tips on how to do this:

* turn off gas only used for decorative, atmospheric or recreational
purposes (for example decorative fire place, hobby kiln)
* turn off unnecessary gas space heating
* turn off unnecessary gas water heating units
* minimise use of gas cooking equipment
* turn off gas operated pool heating, spa or sauna
* minimise the use of gas clothes dryers.

ActewAGL hopes to be able to avoid gas restrictions or unexpected gas
supply disruption, known as load shedding. Support for the voluntary
restrictions by customers will help to reduce the need to introduce
restrictions or conduct load shedding.

For more information on gas restrictions and exemptions please visit the
ActewAGL website at www.actewagl.com.au or call ActewAGL on 13 18 86.
