Many people are arguing we have reached the peak of oil production and
once we have it is all into decline and prices will rise. This will have a
major impact on the economy and the way we live all around the world. Many
people say this could lead us into a recession and into political
instability.
Kunstler has written a book called the Long Emergency about surviving the
end of the oil change.
Kunstler talks about surviving after the peak. Kunstler talks about the
world peaking somewhere between 1998 and the early 2000's. He says the
signals we are getting from the market are that there is no swing producer
left. He says that this will create suburban sprawl. He says we need to
prepare to live more locally.
Share says that Kunstler isn't exaggerating about the problem as we are
heading into an era of peak production. She says that the good oil may
leave but there is still a lot of bad oil left. Share talks about what
rely on oil for.
Dr Karl says that it seems that we are at the peak of oil production. He
says we are half way through the easily available oil. Dr Karl says
nuclear power is an option for this.
Share talks about alternative energies for oil. She says conservation is a
big way to use the remaining oil.
Wadsley talks about the worries about the world oil supplies peaking. He
talks about it from an economic perspective for the world.
Kimberly says the petrol price is too cheap and there is no incentive for
people not to drive cars.
McNamara has raised the issue of peak oil. He says that his comments made
page 76 in the Australian. He says this shows how this issue isn't taken
seriously. He says we need to get this on the front page.
Wadsley talks about why this wasn't talked about at the last election.
Wadsley talks about using ethonal.
Share talks about China's oil demands. Share says that in London driving
has been banned in certain areas.
