Prime Minister's Science Engineering and Innovation Council (PMSEIC)
Public Lecture

On Friday 4 February a public lecture will be held in the Parliament House
Theatre to discuss two recently released reports on topics key to the
sustainable future of Australia and its people:

Australia and Food Security in a Changing World; and
Challenges at Energy-Water-Carbon Intersections.
The reports were developed at the behest of PMSEIC which provides
independent advice on major national issues in science, engineering and
technology and their contribution to the economic and social development
of Australia. While developed independently of each other, the two
reports do overlap on a number of issues, including the impact of climate
change, the importance of water, and the need to build a resilient
Australia.

Both expert reports address long-term, transformational issues for
Australia that affect the whole nation and thus will require a
whole-of-government response. Full copies of the reports can be
downloaded from http://www.chiefscientist.gov.au/about/publications/

Details of the lecture are:

Date: Friday 4 February 2011

Time: 2 - 3:30pm

Venue: Parliament House Theatre (please enter via the public entrance -
passes are not required - take the staircase to the right and continue
around to the right)

Further information can be obtained by calling the Office of the Chief
Scientist on 02 6276 1727
