Hi all,

Public Lecture
Adapting to Climate Change

This presentation will provide an overview of the approach taken by Australia's Department of Climate Change in advising on the implications of climate change for settlements and infrastructure, including risks arising from sea level rise, storm surge, changes in rainfall, higher temperatures, and more severe and frequent extreme weather events. From this basis, information on some of the activities the Department of Climate Change is supporting to assess these risks and to develop strategies to prepare better for long term climate change is presented.

Laurie Hodgman is the Director of the Settlements and Infrastructure Adaptation Section of the Department of Climate Change. Laurie joined DCC in April 2008, and has previously worked in environmental risk assessment, regulatory compliance and enforcement, legislation policy, international environment policy, and intergovernmental relations. He has a background in urban and regional land use planning, and sustainable development policy.
