The BTRE is holding a seminar on 20 September 2005 for its recently
released working paper 'Health impacts of transport emissions in
Australia: Economic Costs'. This research is part of on-going work to
quantify the economic costs associated with transport emissions.
Ambient motor vehicle air pollution related mortality and morbidity in
2000 is estimated to have:
- resulted in between 900 and 2000 early deaths;
- accounted for between 900 and 4500 morbidity cases; and
- cost between $1.6 billion and $3.8 billion.
The working paper can be downloaded from
http://www.btre.gov.au/publications.aspx - hard copies are also
available by contacting [BTRE Publications].
