Topic: Belconnen-City Busway Route Selection and Other Issues
Speaker: Faye Powell, ACT Planning and Land Authority
Faye will outline key aspects of ACT Government policy in the
Sustainable Transport Plan that proposes a series of transitways
(Busways) for Canberra - then outline the process for route
identification, environmental and other impact assessments of the
various route options for the Belconnen - City Busway.
Faye Powell is a former member of the ACTION Board and stepped down
from the Board to undertake the role of the Busway Project Director for
the ACT Planning and Land Authority. Before moving to Canberra in 1998
she was the General Manager of Countrylink (NSW rail and coach
operations) and General Manager of the Container Division of the
National Rail Corporation. Both roles involved the introduction of major
technological and work practice reforms to improve the financial
performance of both those transport businesses.
