Hi folks,

Three events of interest:

____________________________________

* ACT Network Opposing War

I may be able to make this, I hope some of you can go too. Conflict over
oil is the proximate cause of the major current world tensions. The anti-
war movement needs to pick up on this.

* Save The Ridge meeting
Monday 4th July at 7:30pm

"Please come along and help us to stop the GDE and restore the
bulldozed sections of Canberra Nature Park!"

"Second, STR was disappointed at the one-sided view of the Canberra Times
when it reported that the ACT Government has stopped pursuing STR in the
ACT
courts for compensation for delaying the GDE (Saturday 11th June, p16).

The Canberra Times has an editorial policy supporting the GDE. STR is
unable to change this, but we nonetheless strive to get our point of view
heard and expect fair and accurate reporting of matters that relate to the
GDE and STR. The report in the Times on 11 June was full of inaccuracy and
did not fairly put issues to the public. STR submitted a letter to the
editor to correct the record. This letter was not published. We are now
circulating it to our supporters so that at least some people in Canberra
can appreciate how poorly this important issue is being reported by the
Canberra Times."

I think it's important to have our own communication netowrk such as this
email list, in light of problems like this.
