ACT Peak Oil special general meeting 2008/06/18
Present: Alex Pollard, David Price, Alex Roberts, Antony Barry, Sarah
Dinsmore, Paul Pollard, Greg Dojchinov
Apologies: Jenny Goldie, Isabelle

1st item: Nominate a body to vest property in should ACT Peak Oil be
wound up. Alex P moved a special resolution to vest property of ACT
Peak Oil in the Nature and Society Forum should it be wound up.
Antony Barry seconded. Vote unanimous in favour. Special motion passed.

2nd item: What should ACT Peak Oil be trying to do? Various ideas were
raised:
- Liaise with like minded organisations (eg Organic Growers)
- Line up meetings to interview ministers
- Need to do something positive.
- Increase cycling
- Car pooling web site
- Can we model efficiency of bus service to assess feasibility of
having less bus stops, but more frequent buses?
- Push abolish registration costs so that people don't think "I've
paid the registration, now I'd better drive the car"
- Fringe benefits tax is also a problem, since it encourages people to
  drive more.
- Put a submission into the taxation review about the fringe benefits
  tax.
- Research where these and other good ideas are being put into
practise. For example, look at what other countries are doing.
- Get traffic lights changed so that pedestrian lights change to green
when possible without a button being pressed.
- Encourage optimisation of bus network by having traffic lights
  change when they approach.
